Lead Summary

Jason James Nordaune, 36, of Rochester, (formerly of Benson) died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home after a brief battle with cancer.
A private family service was  held Wednesday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rochester.
Jason was born April 6, 1976 in Benson, Minnesota. He graduated from St. John’s University in Collegeville with a B.A. in Studio Art. Jason ran his own marketing and design business, Brilliant Marketing, but most of all loved taking care of his three girls.
Jason is survived by his wife, Beth, and their two children: Ava (7) and Laurel (5 ½); his parents, Sandra and James Nordaune of Benson; his siblings, Adam and Trisha; and his grandmother, Bernice Nordaune.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Betty Lou and Donald Kepner; and Elvin Nordaune.
Jason had a passion for cooking, and considered himself a “foodie”. He loved painting, golfing, the ocean, scuba diving, coffee, craft beer, art, music, and his girls. He had a taste for the finer things in life and considered himself “a man of leisure”, and with his beard jokingly referred to himself as “the most interesting man in the world.”
He had begun sailing lessons with dreams of spending school breaks and future years of sailing around the oceans with his girls and growing old together with Beth.
Memorials are preferred to the “Nordaune Family Benefit.” Gifts will be used for Ava and Laurel’s college fund and also towards organizations that were influential in Jason’s care.
