Three earn All-Conference as gymnasts place second at WCC Gymnastics Meet

Lead Summary

The Benson-KMS gymnastics team recorded one of the best team scores in school history on the way to placing second at the WCC Gymnastics Meet, Saturday at Morris.  Benson-KMS recorded a 138.85 team total to place second behind Melrose, which scored 142.875.

“It was great to have everyone back in the lineup, Saturday, and achieve a team high-score of 138.85,” coach Kathy Ahrndt said.  “Every team member performed outstanding routines on all four events to reach the season high.”
Mariah Ahrndt, Halle Hanson, and Makenna Kelley led the Benson-KMS gymnastics team at the WCC meet with top-five finishes in the all-around.
They also each earned All-Conference, placing among the top nine gymnasts from results throughout the season, while Allie Mitteness earned honorable mention, finishing one spot back from an All-Conference award.  More about the All-Conference team will appear in the coming weeks.
“It was a great honor to have four of our gymnasts recognized among the top 12 in the conference,” coach Ahrndt said.
The gymnasts are peaking at the right time with the Section 6A Gymnastics Meet up next this Saturday at Litchfield.  Only the top team, and top four individuals from each event qualify to the State Gymnastics Meet, set for Feb. 23-24....
