William “Bill” Anderson, 86, of Glenwood, Minnesota died Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Glenwood Retirement Village.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Glenwood United Parish. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Benson City Cemetery.
William Marvin Anderson, the son of John and Amelia (Morton) Anderson, was born  May 12, 1931, at the family home, just outside of Benson, in Torning Township, Minnesota. He and his family were members of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Benson and he attended school in Benson.
August 16, 1951, he enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard. Three years later, August 7, 1954, Bill was united in marriage to Olga Lorine Olson at Bethany Lutheran Church in Morris. Bill and Olga made their home in Benson, where he was employed by the City of Benson Water Department for 23 years. Their marriage was blessed with three children, William, Elizabeth, and Dawn.
Bill enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, the outdoors, reading western stories, and sharing coffee with friends. He had the uncanny ability to repair things, for which he was called upon many times by his children. Those who knew and loved Bill will remember his woodworking skills, his love of the outdoors, his gift of gab, and his ability to wiggle his ears for his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Olga Anderson of Glenwood; their son, William (Angela) Anderson of Glenwood; their daughters, Elizabeth (special friend, Kevin Therkilsen) Peltier of Starbuck, and Dawn (Loren) Rindahl of Sunburg; grandchildren: Nathan (Felicia) Anderson, Tina Olson, Amanda Peltier, Cody (Katie) Peltier, Emerald ( fiancée, Kurt Kleespies) Peltier, Kristeen (Shane) Kingsbury, and Katie (Joe) Jackson; 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Linda Sash of Benson; his brother, Marcel (Gloria) Kellner of Benson; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Anderson; his mother, Amelia Kellner; his sisters, Lois Dokken and Lila Donovan; a brother, John Kellner; and his twin brother, Willard Martin Anderson.
