CITY OF BENSON, MINNESOTA
STANDARD LUMBER FACILITY DEMOLITION

Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received by the CITY OF BENSON at Benson City Hall, 1410 Kansas Avenue, Benson, Minnesota until 10:00 A.M. on August 1, 2013, at which time all bids will be opened and read aloud for the furnishing of all materials, skill, labor and all else necessary for the STANDARD LUMBER FACILITY DEMOLITION.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Building demolition of a lumber yard building and concrete slabs adjacent to Minnesota Trunk Highway 9. The proposed Alternate A includes the demolition of Buildings and concrete slabs along and within the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Right of Way adjacent to the lumber yard. The proposed Alternate B includes the demolition of the old water treatment plant located on Kansas Avenue.
BID SECURITY: Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check or bidders bond acceptable to the City of Benson in an amount of at least five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid, payable without condition to the City of Benson and in conformance with the Instruction to Bidders.
OPTIONAL PRE-BID WALK THROUGH: The plan holders are strongly urged to attend an optional pre-bid walk through scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on July 26, 2013 at the project site. Contractors who fail to attend the scheduled walk through shall not be given additional opportunities to visit the site with the Owner/Engineer present and must do so on their own time. Contractors who visit the site at times other than the scheduled time will only be able to view the buildings from the exterior as access to the interior will not be allowed.
PROCUREMENT OF DOCUMENTS: The Contract Documents are on file for inspection at Benson City Hall, 1410 Kansas Avenue, Benson, MN 56215 and the offices of LANDTEAM, Inc., 509 22nd Avenue East, Suite 102, Alexandria, Minnesota, 56308.

Optional paper copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained at Landteam, Inc., 509 22nd Avenue East, Suite 102, Alexandria, MN, 56308, for a non-refundable amount of $75.00 for each set.
CONTRACT TIME: Notice to Proceed on or about August 15, 2013 with a Final Completion date of October 15, 2013.
BID SUBMITAL: All bids must be submitted on the official forms, prepared by the Engineer for that purpose. Bidders shall submit a Bid on lump sum basis for the base Bid and include a separate price for the alternate as shown in the Bidding Documents and provided for in the Bid Form. Bids shall be directed to the City Clerk, securely sealed and endorsed upon the outside with a brief statement as to the work for which the bid is made.
BASIS OF AWARD: The contract award will be based on the lowest Bid price of the Base Bid or the combination of the Base Bid and Alternate as determined by the City of Benson’s Project Scope
RIGHT TO REJECT BIDS: The City of Benson reserves the right to hold all bids for a period of sixty (60) days after the scheduled closing time set for receiving bids and to reject any and all Bids and to award the contract as the City of Benson deems in their best interest.
