BOLD dominates Braves during 68-0 Homecoming win

Lead Summary

The BOLD Warriors put on one of the finest displays of dominant football this sportswriter has ever seen during a 68-0 thumping of the Benson Braves, Friday night during BHS Homecoming on Brock Field.

BOLD scored on 12 of its 13 possessions during the game, going up 27-0 after one quarter and 54-0 by halftime.  The only time the Warriors didn’t score was their first possession of the second half when they drove to the Benson 4-yard line and faced fourth-and-goal, but were stopped for a four-yard loss by Sam Lundebrek and Matt Tolifson.

Benson had just 35 net yards of offense in 32 plays and one first down, and that came on a penalty.  BOLD meanwhile, had 602 yards of offense and 15 first downs.

“The BOLD Warriors lived up to their No. 1-QRF ranking in Class A football on Friday night,” Benson head coach Scott Gonnerman said.  “They have a dominating offensive and defensive line, as well as speed and athleticism at the specialty positions.”

The Braves fell to 0-5 overall with the loss and 0-4 in the Mid-State White sub-district.  BOLD leads the sub-district with a 4-0 record.....
