First-half deficit too much to overcome as Braves fall to Osakis, 27-6

Lead Summary

Osakis scored four first-half touchdowns on the way to a 27-6 victory over Benson, Friday night in Osakis.  The Silverstreaks improved to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Mid State sub-district white, while the Braves fell to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in league play.

After Osakis scored on its first drive, going 61 yards in nine plays, the Braves also scored on their first drive of the night to tie up the game at 6-6 with 2:36 left in the first quarter, but that would be it for the Benson offense, which was held to 208 total yards on 46 offensive plays.

“Osakis made a lot of mental mistakes on its first drive with several penalties, but we were unable to take advantage and get our defense off the field,” coach Scott Gonnerman said.  “They completed a long pass during the drive and were able to convert on a fourth-and-short situation to keep the drive alive before eventually scoring.”

This week, the Braves go after win No. 1 of the season....
