Obituary
 
Gertrude Lorraine (Eitreim) Breen, age 90, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2017 in Benson, Minnesota surrounded by family. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents Joe and Selma Eitreim and husband David Breen, who was gleefully waiting with a drink and ready for a dance. She is survived by children Cynthia (Laurie Dowley), Kari (Rich Forschler), Kristen (Richard Schroeder), Vyke (Laree), Heidi, Luke (Mary); grandchildren Haley, Olivia (TJ, Lily, and Leah Yerdon), Ginger (Tom Claussen), Katie (Nick Walsh), Zachary, David, Emma, Sarah, Sophie, Margaret, and Allison; and dear friend Shirley Staton and family. 
 
Gert was born in Garretson, South Dakota on August 21, 1927, only child to Joe and Selma. She graduated from South Dakota State where she met the love of her life, David Luther Breen. They were married September 12, 1948 and moved to Benson, Minnesota where they proudly opened and operated Breen’s Pharmacy, raised their six children, and cheered on the Benson Braves.
She loved spending her summers at Lake Minnewaska, family road trips to South Dakota, shopping, knitting, dancing, gardening, and telling her grandchildren how wonderful they are. 
 
Gert lived a life of timeless class, was sweeter than a cup of sugar, tougher than a nail and brought laughter to the world with her beloved sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by all. 
 
A visitation will be hosted on Wednesday, September 20 from 5-7 pm at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 21 at 11 am, with lunch to follow in church basement.
