Cross-country teams set to open up this week
The Benson-KMS cross-country teams are set to open up the 2017 season Monday, Aug. 28 at the Morris Invitational. The Fighting Braves are also set to compete at the Lac qui Parle Invitational, Thursday, Aug. 31, while among the other major meets of 2017 is the Benson Invitational, Monday, Oct. 9, the Section 6A Meet at Long Prairie-GE, Thursday, Oct. 26, and the State Boys and Girls Cross-Country Meet at St. Olaf College, Saturday, Nov. 4.
Besides the fact that the cross-country teams lost four boys and four girls from last year’s team due to graduation, the program will have a new coach this year after the co-coaches both resigned last year.
Taking over as the new coach is Samantha (Goff) VanHeuveln, a graduate of Benson High School and Jamestown College.
