Clontarf, Minnesota – Scott David Kent, 65, of Clontarf, died Thursday, July 20, 2017, at St. Cloud Hospital. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf.  Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Monday, July 24, at the church. Interment will be in St. Malachy Catholic Church Cemetery in Clontarf.
 
Scott David Kent was born on February 14, 1952 in Benson, Minnesota the son of Charles and Dorothy (Pederson) Kent. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Clontarf. He grew up on the farm near Clontarf and attended school in Clontarf and graduated from Benson High School in 1970. 
 
On April 21, 1973, Scott was united in marriage to Marilyn Quandt at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church by Father John Cooney. This union was blessed with over 44 years of marriage, 2 children and 5 grandchildren. In his early years, Scott worked for Collins Construction, Schmidgalls, Johnson Fertilizer, and LorAl. He started his own business in 1978, Kent Electric motor repair. Scott and Marilyn poured their hearts and souls into the business and Scott’s favorite part of his shop was visiting with people. He was a member of the Clontarf Development Corporation and he served on the Clontarf Fire Department as the Fire Department Chief, City Councilman and Mayor of Clontarf, on the St. Malachy Church finance and administration, sexton of the St. Malachy’s Catholic Cemetery, and he was an avid member of the Republican Party.
 
He was a true farmer at heart. He made several trips each day in the GEO to check the crops and to see how much rain was in the gauge. Scott was called from this life on Thursday, July 20, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He attained the age of 65 years, 5 months, and 6 days.  
 
Scott is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Clontarf; his children, Jenny (Troy) Arndt of Elk River and Jesse (Lisa) Kent of Clontarf; his grandchildren: Adam and Allison Arndt, and Tyler, Dylan and Brooke Kent; his mother in law, Verna Quandt; his siblings: Keith (Marlene) Kent of Clontarf, Bruce (Dawn) Kent of Woodbury, Kathy (Lloyd) Hemmah of Hutchinson, Debbie (Kevin) Evenson of Hutchinson, Barb (Robert) Brandt of Clontarf, Kevin (Mary) Kent of Benson, and Karen (Darin) Jenson of Marshall; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Kent; and his father-in-law, Donald Quandt.  Blessed be his memory.
