Saints top Braves in baseball opener, 10-2

Lead Summary

The Benson baseball team opened up the season with a pair of losses to KMS (10-2) and Montevideo (3-2).  The Braves scored the first run in both games, but were unable to hold on to the lead.  The loss to Montevideo was especially tough as Benson led 1-0 going into the bottom-half of the sixth when the Thunderhawks plated three runs....
A big fourth and fifth innings by the Saints paved the way for a 10-2 opening-game win by KMS over Benson last Tuesday night on Chiefs’ Field in Benson.

Sophomore Hunter Mondor came in to relieve Lenarz the second inning and he went on to suffer the loss, giving up five hits, eight runs (four earned) and six walks with two strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings....
