City of Benson storm notices for Friday, June 21

Lead Summary

The longest day of the year may end up being just that for many Benson area residents as storm cleanup continues.  The middle-of-the-night storm blew as strong as 90 miles per hour, with straight line winds in many places toppling and damaging grain bins and uprooting trees all over the area.
Because of the many branches down on city streets, city bus service has been shut down for the day.
In addition, the long lines at the city brush site are being re-routed to the old dump site east of Benson on Hwy. 9.  Trees and tree limbs and stumps will be taken at that location.
If the 80 plus temperature is getting you down - the city has a solution - the city pool, which is open until 8 tonite and will be open 1 to 8 again tomorrow.  These are normal pool hours.  The pool's FLOAT & FLICK party for tonite is cancelled.
BENSON GOLF CLUB NOTICES:
Due to heavy storm damage the course is closed until further notice. Fun night scheduled for tonight is cancelled and the Bigg Dogg tournament scheduled for tomorrow is cancelled as well.
RELAY FOR LIFE NOTICE:
Benson Relay for Life for tonite is cancelled.  The group hopes to re-schedule for later in the summer.
