MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777, Benson, Minnesota
Monday, January 23, 2017 - 5:30 p.m.
Benson Senior High Media Center
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chair Chad Payne.  Members present:  Andy Abner, Jodi DeJong-Hughes, Mary Langan, Jason Madden, Bill McGeary, Chad Payne and Gary Williams.
Members absent:  None.  Also present:  Dennis Laumeyer, Brad Johnson, Mike Knutson, Dave Benson, Pam Anderson, Mick Boone, Allen Saunders, Mike Thompson, Robert Neuman and Paul Youngquist.
Consent agenda items were approved.
Progress Reports were presented by the administrators.
Five school board members and Superintendent Laumeyer attended the MSBA Leadership Conference and reported on the informative sessions including Rock & Read, Ag2School and K-12 self-guided learning with iPads.
The board approved two changes for the 2017 school board meeting schedule: May 15th school board meeting time to 5:30 p.m. and the August 14th meeting to August 21st.
The board approves the Pay Equity Compliance Report.
The board approved to subscribe to BoardBook in the amount of $2,000 and purchase eight Chromebooks. 
First reading of the draft 2017-2018 School Calendar.
The Facilities Task Force met four times and presented their recommendations to the board prioritizing building maintenance; preference to consolidate preschool into one location, preferably at Northside Elementary; and inquired about requirements to build a field house. Architect Paul Youngquist explained maintenance items and facility projects including costs, dimensions and future considerations while planning facilities projects and Long Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM). Work with Paul Youngquist will continue on maintenance projects, the Budget Committee will meet to discuss the 10 year LTFM priorities and Daycare discussions with the community will continue.

$1,000 from Roselyn Scott for the Rose Skarsten Memorial Scholarship
Donations totaling an additional $645 to the Mary Lou Terwilliger Memorial Scholarship
$500 from Dr. Richard & Anita Horecka for the ACMC Scholarship
$500 from Gary & Connie Williams for the Al & Mary Ann Grage Scholarship
$20,000 from Jennings Larson for the Arthur, Pearl & Wayne Larson Family Memorial Scholarship
$100 from Lew, Joyce & Master Marc Nokleby for Benson Tae Kwon Do Scholarship
