Gymnasts place second at WCC Tournament

Lead Summary

Ninth-grader Mariah Ahrndt led the Benson-KMS-Montevideo gymnastics team to a runner-up finish at the WCC Meet, Saturday at Melrose Area.
Benson-KMS-M scored 136.025 points to place second behind WCC champion Melrose (150.825), the second-ranked team in Class A.  Morris Area was third with 131.375 points, while LPGE-Browerville was fourth with 128.5 points.
Ahrndt scored 36.175 points in the all-around to place fourth behind three athletes from Melrose, and also earned All-Conference honors again, placing second overall.  Halle Hanson earned honorable mention, just missing out on All-Conference.  More about the All-WCC team will appear in the coming weeks.
Coming up this week is the Section 5A Gymnastics Meet, set for Saturday at Willmar.  Melrose and Willmar are the huge favorites and it will be very tough for any Benson-KMS-M athlete to earn a spot at state....
