Catherine A. Zinda 83, of Kerkhoven passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017, at Prairie Senior Cottages in Willmar.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Friday, at The Church of St. Mary in Willmar.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Kerkhoven.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home.  www.hafh.org
 
Catherine Anne (Fennell) Zinda was born on September 27, 1933, in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Edmund and Margaret (Peerboom) Fennell.  She grew up in the Benson and Danvers area and graduated from Benson High School in The Class of 1951.  She worked several jobs including Nash Finch in Minneapolis.  She was united in marriage to Richard A. Zinda on May 22, 1954, at the Church of the Visitation in Danvers, MN.  The couple farmed outside of Hollaway and later moved several times including Danube and Roland, Iowa.  They settled in Kerkoven in 1979.  In addition to raising seven children; Catherine was a secretary at the Appleton School and Danube School.  She later worked as a secretary at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.  Richard passed away on June 3, 1990.  Catherine continued to live in Kerkhoven and she retired from Bethesda Heritage at the age of 67 after 21 years of service.
 
Catherine was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith at the Church of the Visitation in Danvers.  She was a faithful member of the Church of St. Mary in Willmar and often participated in the bake sales.
 
In addition to baking and cooking, she enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and flowers.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and getting everyone together for a softball game.
 
Catherine is survived by her children: Diane (and Mark) Grewe of Hutchinson, Denise (and Michael) Rose of Lakewood, CO, Vicki (and Robert) Lane of Willmar, Judy Deming (and special friend Vaughn Hoover) of Madison, Maine, Allan Zinda (and special friend Colleen Johnson) of Benson, Ken Zinda (and special friend Donna Siegle) of Hutchinson, Paul Zinda (and special friend Kay Nilson) of Willmar; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters Margaret “Peggy” Fennell of Danvers and sister-in-law Lois Fennell of Danvers and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Janet in infancy, brother Thomas and a brother in infancy; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth (and Charles) Hughes and Clara (and James) Brown.
