Lillian Helen Gilles, age 105, formerly of Benson, died on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax, Minnesota.  Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
 
Lillian Helen Gilles was born September 9, 1911 in DeGraff, Minnesota, the daughter of Frederick and Leah C. (Chevalier) Martin.  She was baptized September 12, 1911 by Fr. P. J. Lucey and confirmed May 5, 1926 at St. Bridget Catholic Church.  Lillian graduated from Murdock High School and the Brady & Rogers Minneapolis School of Beauty.  On August 4, 1932, Lillian was united in marriage to Paul J. Gilles and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1982.
 
Lillian worked a short time as a beautician and after marriage was a homemaker and mother.  She enjoyed gardening and flowers, handicrafts, decorating pastries, and was very artistic – even painting the inside of eggs.
 
She was called from this life on January 19, 2017 at the Fairfax Community Home, attaining the age of 105 years, 4 months and 10 days of age.  Lillian is survived by her children, Paul John (Mary) Gilles of St. Cloud and Thomas Frederick (Lois) Gilles of Fairfax; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
 
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Leah Martin; husband, Paul J. Gilles in 1982; and sister, Carmen Dirkswager.
