Brad Nordby, age 57, died on Tuesday, January 3, at the Swift County Benson Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 6, at 10:30 am at the Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Zniewski Funeral Home – Vaala Chapel of Appleton is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Bradley Guy Joseph Nordby, age 57, was born on June 9, 1959, in Roseburg, Oregon, the son of Lloyd and Louise Hanson Nordby. He grew up in the Roseburg, Oregon area and in Benson, Minnesota. He was baptized on March 27, 1986, by the Rev. Laurel Udden in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Benson High School and graduated from the Human Service Technology Program at Ridgewater College in Willmar on Friday June 2, 1995. He lived in Benson and Appleton for most of his life but also lived in Willmar, Minnesota and in the Fargo Moorhead area. He worked as a Human Service technician, as a certified Nursing Assistant, and as a dishwasher at the Benson Bakery. He was a member of the Benson and Appleton AA and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Brad enjoyed fishing, playing cards, animals especially dogs, cardinals, and pheasants; writing poetry, rodeos, vegetable and flower gardening, reading the Bible, and telling Ole and Lena jokes. He was a caring and understanding person and always tried to help his friends out whenever he could.
Brad was called from this life on Tuesday morning, January 3, 2017, at the Swift County Benson Hospital.  He is survived by his special friend Donna Larson of Danvers; a brother Jesse Nordby Sr. of Benson; his nephews Jesse Nordby Jr., Jeffrey Nordby; a niece Janil (Roger) Mondor; several great nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Louise and a brother Randolph in 1977.
