Elvina Ilene Brackenbury, 98 of Sunburg, Minnesota died   Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Mariam Manor in Sunburg.  
Her funeral was held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15 at Monson Lake Lutheran Church in rural Sunburg.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Visitation was from 5-7 p.m.  Wednesday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Kerkhoven and continued one hour prior to the service at the church  Thursday.
Elvina Ilene Brackenbury was born February 21, 1918 in Kerkhoven Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Elmer and Esther (Paulson) Lesteberg.  She grew up in the Kerkhoven area where she graduated from Kerkhoven High School in the class of 1935.  She helped out on the family farm prior to her marriage to, Forrest “Bob” Brackenbury,  December 10, 1943, at the Norway Lake Lutheran Church parsonage.  The couple lived and farmed near Sunburg, retiring in 1977. Following 63 loving years of marriage, Bob passed away  April 29, 2007.  Elvina later moved into Mariam Manor in Sunburg.
Elvina was baptized and confirmed at Monson Lake Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member.  She held various positions in the church and Sunday School program.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting and crocheting.  She loved to be outdoors gardening and tending to her flower beds.  Her family was very important to her and she cherished the moments she could spend with them.
Elvina passed away peacefully  Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Miriam Manor in Sunburg at the age of 98 years.  
She is survived by her son, Eldon (and Shirley) Brackenbury of Pennock; daughters: Janet (and Donald) Spencer of Hancock and Judy (and Keith) Heinze of Sauk Centre; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Nora.
