MBA boys fall to LDC in opener

The Morris-Benson Area boys hockey team opened up the season with a 12-0 loss at Litchfield-DC, Saturday.
The Storm managed just six shots on net during the loss, while LDC had over 20 shots each period.
The Storm are coming off a 2-21 season from a year ago, that included only a 3-0 win over Worthington and an 8-2 victory at Worthington.
MBA was set to host Windom Area in Benson, Saturday, Dec. 3, as part of a boy-girls hockey doubleheader, before hosting Willmar, Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The Storm, coached by Jeremiah Day and Tony Schultz, also lost eight key skaters from a year ago -- Taylor Staples, Kevin Meixel, Travis Engebretson, Cole Watzke, Colden Helberg, Chad Arndt, Garner Swenson, and Carl Ritzchke.
Three of those players were among the team’s top five scorers from a season ago, including Staples, who had 11 points, including a team-high seven assists; Meixel, who had eight points, and Engebretson, who had seven.
This year’s MBA boys hockey roster includes seniors Blake Engebretson, Dylan DeToy, Mitchell Dufault, Shawn Aarhus, Tony Bruns, and Anthony Johnson; juniors Ashford Swenson and Hunter Gades; and sophomores Kellen Erdahl, Mike Halvorson, Kolby Goff, and Alexander Perowitz
DeToy led the Storm last year with 13 points, including a team-high 10 goals, while Aarhus was tied for third on the team with eight points, and Gades was tied for fifth with seven points.  Bruns was the goalie for all 23 games last year and returns as the starter this season....
