The Benson girls tennis team ran its record to 7-0 to start the season with five more wins last week.  The Braves won two matches last Monday night at the Benson triangular, and then won two more at the NLS triangular last Tuesday, beating NLS (5-2) and Long Prairie-GE (5-2).

The Braves came home Thursday and Friday, winning two matches at the Benson triangular, Thursday, over Morris Area (7-0) and Annandale (4-3), and then improved to 7-0 overall with a 6-1 rout of BBE, Friday.  “We’re playing very good tennis right now and the girls have been mentally strong,” head coach Don Brehmer said.  “There are not too many teams that can stay with our depth.”

This week, Benson opens up the conference schedule with a match at home against defending WCC champion Melrose, Tuesday (yesterday), followed by a match at Sauk Centre, Thursday (tomorrow).

Through seven matches, Kellie Enderson, Grace Ricard, and Olivia Hoffman are all 7-0, while Rose McDonald and Cassie Fugleberg are both 6-1...
