Sylvia Alvina O’Malley, 99, of Benson, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Swift County-Benson Hospital, two weeks shy of her 100th birthday.  
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, Benson.
Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery.
Sylvia was born  August 20, 1916 in Camp Lake Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Sivert and Lena (Anderson) Simonson. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson.
December 7, 1945, Sylvia was united in marriage to Fred O’Malley in Webster, South Dakota.
She worked at the Swift County-Benson Hospital for over 30 years.
Sylvia was a lifetime member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband and best friend, Fred in 1995; sisters, Esther Dahl, Lyla Newcomer; brothers, Sherman, Stanley, Karney and Reuben Simonson and nephew, Luverne Simonson.
Sylvia is survived by nieces and nephews: Becky (Bob) Winge, Renae (Ken) Jacobson, Bob Simonson, Mona (Jon) Hilleren, Lori (Brad) Angeleri, Charles (Rosalie) Dahl, Lavonne Nesheim, Ron Simonson, Kermit (Ardie) Simonson, Myron Simonson, Roger Simonson, Barb (Brad) Amundson, other family and friends.
Arrangements are with Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel.
