Swift Fishing League has great night at Lake Reno

Lead Summary

The Swift Fishing League met at Lake Reno, Thursday, June 23 for the sixth of eight weeks of competition this fishing season.  Expectations were high because the league usually does well on this lake with numbers of fish and large fish.  At the 6 p.m. opening horn it was 82 degrees, sunny, with a light SE breeze that dropped to calm shortly thereafter.  Surface water temp was 74 degrees.  Different than the last couple weeks, some teams had fish in the livewell in the first 5 minutes.  Teams also boxed quite a few fish as the sun was going down in the last 15 minutes of the event.  In all, league teams brought 23 walleyes and one northern to the measuring table.  Largest northern was 25.5”, caught by Rob Lee and worth two points plus a big fish point.  Largest walleye was 22.25”, caught by Scott Lee.  Team Googan (Scott Lee and sub Jon Gades) tied for first place in this event at 15 points from that fish, another 22” walleye, and two smaller walleyes.  Both large walleyes were released.  Team White Fins (Steve Benson and sub Jon Bucktail Dale) also gained 15 points with a league limit of 6 walleyes measured from 14.5” to 19.25”.  Third place went to That’s a Keeper (Jeremy Schauer and sub Dave Tolifson) with 9 points from three walleyes 14” to 21”.  It seems it was good luck this week to have a sub in your boat...
