Obituary
Alvera Haugen, 95, of Benson, passed away on June 20, 2016 at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, MN. Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.  Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
Alvera was born on March 27, 1921 to Elmer and Tillie (Thostenson) Flaten in Camp Lake Township near Swift Falls, MN. She was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran church in Benson on April 10, 1921 by Reverend O.J. Kvale. She was confirmed at St. Pauli Lutheran Church near Swift Falls. Alvera grew up in the Camp Lake and Murdock area. 
Alvera Annetta Haugen was united in marriage to Kenneth Franklin Haugen on June 15, 1942 at Rolling Forks Church in Pope County by Reverend Rhone. They celebrate 63 years of marriage. Together they resided in Benson, MN. As newlyweds, they lived in San Antonio, Texas for a short time when Kenneth was in the military. God blessed their union with two sons, three granddaughters, one grandson, three great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons. 
Alvera was employed at Meadow Lane Home for 16 years before retiring. She was a member of our Redeemers Lutheran Church. Her love for Christ and His church was evident in all areas of her life. She was a faithful prayer warrior.  She lovingly cared for, prayed for and enjoyed her family so deeply. Alvera enjoyed quilting, and was part of the quilting group at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed times at her church, homemaking, baking, and visiting with friends and family.
Alvera is survived by her sons Robert (Bonnie) Haugen and Ross (Jana) Haugen; grandson Tom (Shelly Dodson) Haugen; granddaughters Jessica (James) Norwood, Alison (Tony) Stinar, Emily (Andrew) Vennerstrom: great-grandsons Jackson Stinar, Lincoln Stinar and Mason Norwood; great-granddaughters Lydia Vennerstrom, Grace Vennerstrom and Madison Norwood; brother Elroy Flaten; and sisters Harriet Mortenson and Clarice Schroeder. She was preceded in death by husband Kenneth Haugen and her parents Elmer and Tillie Flaten.
