Pearl Ruby Gorvin Hanson, 79, passed away May 3, 2016 in Ogallala, NE, after a courageous battle with cancer.
 
Pearl was born June 30, 1936 in Lesterville, SD, to Roy and Alta Hermann. She graduated from Scotland (SD) High School and attended Ancker Hospital School of Nursing in St. Paul, graduating in 1957 as a Registered Nurse. She married Bernard Gorvin in 1958 and moved to Minneapolis where they were parents to 3 children. In 1974, they bought the Gambles Store in Kasson, MN., then moved to Northfield, MN., in 1980 where they owned Biagio’s deli until 1985, when they bought Let’s Party!, a party supply store in Owatonna, MN. Pearl also helped found the Steele County Hospice chapter.
 
After Bernie died in 1998, Pearl married long-time friend Dennis Hanson in 2003 and lived in Swift Falls then Willmar, until Denny died in 2011. Pearl then moved to Ogallala to be near Ginni’s family. Pearl enjoyed singing, directing children’s choirs, volunteering as a clown, traveling, camping and fishing.
 
Pearl is survived by her children: Greg (Julie) of Savage, MN, Geoff (Kelly) of Baxter, MN, and Ginni (David) Huntimer of Big Springs, NE; step-children Delinda (Bob) Beattie of Eagan, MN, David (Mary Lee) Hanson of Apple Valley, MN, Deena Hanson of New Orleans, LA, Diane (Philip) Dickey of Mankato, MN, and Dori (Mike) Engen of Prior Lake, MN; six siblings; 16 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
 
A funeral service is at 2 pm May 11 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Willmar. Visitation is 1-2 pm. Interment is 11:35 am May 12 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to the Willmar Area Food Shelf.
