Peter David Hanson, 73, died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton, North Dakota.  
A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Zniewski Funeral Home Chapel in Benson with visitation held for one hour prior to the service.  
Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery.  
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to your memorial of choice.
Peter David Hanson was born August 28, 1942 in Benson, Minnesota to Chester Albert and Ellen Amanda (Kvam) Hanson. He was baptized December 13, 1942 by Rev. Melvin Berg at Immanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed April 14, 1957 by Rev. John Longley at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ.  Peter grew up in the rural Benson area, attending Country School District #16 and graduating from Benson High School in 1960.  He served his country in the United States Naval Air Reserve from October 1962 to October 1970 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Moorhead State University in 1970.
Peter worked at filling stations in Minneapolis and Fargo while attending college.  He then worked at Lumberyards in Brighten, Colorado; Studio City, California; and Fargo, North Dakota.  He spent 18 years driving bus for MTC in Minneapolis and was recognized as a WCCO Good Neighbor.  He finished his working career farming near Walcott, North Dakota for more than 25 years.  Peter was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed collecting foreign coins, guns and vintage IHC tractors.  He was very interested in aviation, motorcycles, Scottish Highlander cattle and Siberian husky dogs.
Peter died Sunday, March 27, 2016. He attained 73 years, six months and 29 days of age.
Peter is survived by his siblings, Warren (Laura) Hanson of Slayton and Betty (Don) Buck of Zumbrota; nieces and nephews: Joan (Dave Cole) Hanson, John Hanson, Donna (Todd) Roth, Diane (Brian) Hokanson, Julie (Dan) Hokanson; great-nieces and great-nephews: Brooks, Linnea and Talia Roth, Kelsey, Eric and Tess Hokanson, and Casey, Blake and Colin Hokanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellen in 1971 and Chester in 1994, and an infant sister, Mary Ellen, in 1944.
