Floyd “Swanee” Swanberg, 81, of Sunburg, Minnesota (formerly of Benson) died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Rice Memorial Hospital.  Services will be private.  

Floyd Anthony Swanberg was born  October 15, 1934 in Clontarf, the son of Peter and Margaret (Langsdorf) Swanberg.  He grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1954.  After his schooling, he entered the National Guard where he served for nine years.  In 1964, Swanee was united in marriage to Sharon Ness.  To this union a daughter was born. They later divorced. He made his home in Benson where he worked for the Benson Post Office as a postal carrier from 1960 until his retirement in 1991.  In 1986, he moved to Sunburg where he lived with his companion, Hazel Thonvold.  Swanee enjoyed watching the birds, sitting and looking out over the lake by his home, fishing, hunting and his hog roasts.

Swanee died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Rice Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.  

He is survived by his children, Shari Swanberg (Steve Carey) of Danvers and Kae (Dale) Roebling of Hardin, MT; grandchildren, Blaze and Dallas Carey and Kelsey and Colton Roebling; great-grandchildren, Brady and Colin; companion, Hazel Thonvold; Hazel’s children, Mike (Vicki) Thonvold, Dan (Mary) Thonvold and Tammy (Jess) Berge; Hazel’s grandchildren, Kayla, Taylor, Jordan, Amber, Nicole, Ben, Levi, Brittany, Abby and Austin; siblings, Myrtle Starbeck, Robert Swanberg, Marcella Halpin, Dicky Swanberg, LuVern (Madge) Swanberg, Lowell (Stella) Swanberg and Darlene Jackson.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, four sisters and Hazel’s son, Rick.
