The funeral service for Alda Mae Anderson, 90, of Granite Falls, formerly of Echo, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the Rock Valle Lutheran Church in Rural Echo.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo.  Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the church on Friday.  Interment will follow the service at the Rock Valle Cemetery in Rural Echo.
Alda Mae (Melbye) Anderson was born on January 17, 1926, in Lake Park, MN, to Oscar Carl Wilhelm and Olga (Feragan) Melbye.  She was baptized and confirmed at the Lake Park Lutheran Church.  She attended school and graduated from Lake Park High School.  On October 3, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arnold Anderson at the Lake Park Lutheran Parsonage by the Rev. A.J. Anders.  She worked at Ehlers Department Store in Redwood Falls.  She was active in the Echo P.T.A. and was a Cub Scout Mom.  She and Arnold were Co-Chairmen of the Echo All School Reunion for the Echo Centennial in 1992.  She was a faithful member of the Rock Valle Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School and served in several offices.  She and Arnold were Luther League Counselors for many years and she was Co-Chairman of the Green Lake Bible Camp Cook Book.  Alda Mae made many sets of dish towels, sewed tablecloths and helped make quilts for the Rock Valle Mission Sale.  Alda Mae was a caregiver for her mother for 25 years and also for Bertha Engel, a family friend from Lake Park.  She opened her doors to many young people who wanted to come out to the farm.  She was a Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed watching girls basketball.  For the last ten years, Alda Mae lived at Granite Ridge Place in Granite Falls.
Alda Mae died on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Granite Falls Manor in Granite Falls, MN.  She is survived by her children Cindy (and Jerry) Young of Punta Gorda, FL, Kathy (and Stan) Bruss of Mankato, Tom (and Pam) Anderson of Benson, grandchildren Alissa (and Dan) Ellingson, Emily (and Adam) Culley, Adam (and Lori) Bruss, Ashley Anderson, Justin Anderson, great-grandchildren Samuel and Abigail Ellingson, Avery and Ashlyn Culley, sister Dorothy Slapnik of Great Falls, MT, in-laws Orleen (and Burton) Weidemann, Jerry (and Karen) Anderson, Nona Anderson, Ardis Melbye and Carolyn Melbye, several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold, daughter Ann Louise, four brothers and three sisters and their spouses.
Memorials preferred to the Rock Valle Lutheran Church or Hospice.
