Reuben Arnold Simonson, 92, of Benson, Minnesota, died  March 11, 2016 at the Swift County Benson Hospital.
A Memorial Service was held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, Benson. Interment was in the Benson City Cemetery. Military honors were provided by Mel Simonson VFW Post 1403.
Reuben was born to Sivert and Lena (Anderson) Simonson on August 3, 1923 in Camp Lake Township, Swift County, Minnesota.
Reuben was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Benson and attended rural and Benson schools. He proudly served his country during WWII with the 157th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division in the European Theatre. He owned and operated Simonson Oil Company in Benson.
October 24, 1947, Reuben was united in marriage to Ruby Hagen at the Big Bend Lutheran Church. Together they were able to share in 66 years of marriage and were blessed with four children. His home was a welcoming and restful place, not only for family but others as well. He was a history buff and an avid reader who loved to discuss current events, farming, cars, and geography. Reuben was dedicated to the Lord, his family, and his country.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Ruby in 2014; brothers: Sherman, Stanley and Karney Simonson; sisters: Esther Dahl Carlson and Lyla Newcomer, who welcomed him to his heavenly home.
Reuben is survived by his children, Rebecca (Bob) Winge, Renae (Ken) Jacobson, Bob Simonson, and Ramona (Jon) Hilleren; grandchildren, Sarah, Leah, Nathan, and Michael Winge, Ben Jacobson, Amanda Bagne, Joseph and Gregory Hilleren; great grandchildren, Sophia and Clara Bagne and Liam Jacobson; sister, Sylvia O'Malley; other family and friends.
