Charlene was born February 5, 1934, in Danvers, Minnesota, to Daniel Leo and Clara (Dolan)   Connolly.  She married Robert (Bob) A. Hunter  August 2, 1958 at the Church of the Visitation in Danvers.
Charlene worked as an English and French Teacher in St. Cloud before her marriage to Bob. She was a homemaker and later worked for the Diocese of Des Moines, Liberty Mutual Insurance and then Sacred Heart Catholic Church.   She was a member of the Sacred Heart Women’s Guild, St. Catherine’s Alumni Association and was a former member of the Sacred Heart School Board.
Charlene was always in a good mood and cheerful to anyone who called.  Although Charlene grew up in a town of 100 people she did not live in a small world.  She was a continual learner and could find six degrees of separation with a Minnesotan connection after five minutes of meeting them.   Charlene loved to view the world thru fine arts.  She held season tickets to the Community Playhouse, The Des Moines Symphony and Des Moines Metropolitan Opera as a devoted arts supporter. Charlene was the 1952 valedictorian of her high school class in Benson, Minnesota.
Charlene is survived by her children, Mary (Stephen) Visek of Papillion, NE,  Patricia (Eric) Sands of Doha, Qatar, Tom (Patricia) Hunter and Robert Hunter, both of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Derek and Marcus Visek, Andrea and Nick Sands, Alex, Harris, Noah and Celia Hunter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, daughter Anne Therese and her brothers, Thomas and John Gregory Connolly.
Contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
