Ruth Loretta Clemens
1937 ~ 2015

Ruth Loretta Clemens, age 78, of Appleton, formerly of Holloway, was called to her heavenly home December 26, 2015 in Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.  Funeral services were Thursday, December 31st, at 11:00AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway, officiated by Rev. Donald Klatt.  Burial followed in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Holloway.

Ruth was born on October 2, 1937 to Loretta and Walter Holzheimer in their home in Fairfield Township.  Shortly after, she was baptized into the Christian faith.  Upon her mother’s death, Ruth was raised by her grandmother Anna Marie Heldt and two very special uncles Eddie and Roy.  Growing up around Holloway she enjoyed animals especially their dog and her horse Blackie.  Ruth confirmed her baptismal faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway.    She graduated from Holloway High School in 1955.

On September 16, 1956, Ruth was united in marriage to George Clemens at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  They made their home in Holloway and were married for 59 years.  They were blessed with three sons, then three daughters-in-law and three grandchildren.  Michael and Paula Clemens along with their son Aaron live in Sioux Falls, SD.  Douglas and Jean Clemens live in West Fargo, ND. Edward and Pam along with their children, Victoria and Caleb, live in Sartell, MN.

Through the years Ruth volunteered for numerous activities at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway and community events in the area. She especially enjoyed the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Bible study.  Ruth worked in telephone offices in Morris and Appleton.  She worked with George at their gas station in Holloway and all of their business and farm ventures.  She also briefly drove school bus for the Appleton School system.   She loved her husband devoutly and enjoyed many travel adventures, fishing, reading, and visiting (especially with coffee).

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Laverna Suckow, and two brothers, Edgar and Walter.  Ruth loved life, but she loved her Lord the most and now sings His praises with a new song!
