Maxine Ann Meyer

Maxine A. Meyer, 87, died on Monday, December 28, 2015, at Central Minnesota Senior Care in Willmar. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 1:00 pm at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Friday.

Maxine grew up in Vesta, Minnesota. She married Marion George Meyer on September 8, 1946 at the church parsonage in Milroy, Minnesota by Rev. Harry Sorenson. Marion and Maxine had one child; daughter, Geraldine Ann Meyer.

Maxine and Marion moved to the Benson, MN area in 1954 where they purchased a farm near Lake Hazel. Along with being a housewife, Maxine worked at the Super Value in Benson. In 1974, they moved to Swift Falls, MN where they operated the M & M Grocery Store and Welding and Repair Shop until they retired in 1990. Upon retirement, Maxine and Marion continued to live in Swift Falls. Maxine was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Vesta, MN. She became a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church shortly after moving to Swift Falls and she remained a member of Shepard of the Hills until the time of her passing. Among other things, Maxine enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, growing beautiful flowers and plants, baking “goodies,” and watching the birds.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Geraldine (Charles) Sheppard; four grandchildren: Daniel (Stacee) Jergenson, Christopher (Patricia) Sheppard, Debra (John) Fraser, and Caroline (Alfred) Collins; seven great-grandchildren: Jacob John Fraser, Isaac John Fraser, Cameron Alfred Collins, Samuel John Fraser, Alexander John (A.J.) Fraser, Christian Alexander Collins, and John Alexander Sheppard; one brother, Darold (Norma) Zimmer; two sisters, Bernice Pischke and June Tietz; and nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Marion; her parents, Wilbur and Leona Zimmer; one brother, Merlin Zimmer; one sister, Dorothy Pischke; one grandchild, Cathryn Gamble; and one great-grandchild, Caitlin Alyce Collins.
