by John Fragodt, Sports Editor
The Benson-Hancock softball team lost its first two games of the season last week.  The Brave-Owls were shut out by Sauk Centre in the opener, Thursday night in Benson, 12-0, and Benson-Hancock also lost a close game with Montevideo, Friday night in Benson, 6-5.
The Brave-Owls have four more games scheduled this week, beginning with a home game with Atwater-CGC, Monday, and continuing with a game at Minnewaska Area, Thursday (tomorrow), and a doubleheader at BOLD, Friday, May 3.
Sauk Centre 12, Benson-Han 0
The Brave-Owls opened up the season with a 12-0 loss to Sauk Centre, Thursday night at home.  The game was played on the JV softball field, instead of the main field, because of wet conditions.
Sauk Centre scored all the runs it would need in the first inning with three runs, and then added four more in the second and five in the sixth to end the game early due to the 10-run rule.
Benson-Hancock got its only hit in the first inning as Kayla Jones had a double.
