Braves open up 2015 schedule at EV-Watkins

Lead Summary

The Benson football team is set to open up the 2015 season at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 22 at Eden Valley-Watkins.  The Saturday game is the first of many firsts for the Braves, who will have played three games before the start of school, Tuesday, Sept. 8.
EVW is hosting a state amateur baseball tournament that weekend so the start of the game had to be pushed up so that the football game is done before the start of baseball, which uses the same facility as football.
Benson, which is coming off an 0-9 season from a year ago, has lost 16-straight games dating back to the 2013 season so the Braves will be hoping to pick up win No. 1 early this season.
The first home game is set for 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28, which will also be the annual Father-Son game, and Benson also has a game scheduled at Morris Area-CA, at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 4, which is Tackle Cancer Night.
The football team lost 10 players from last year’s team, including Aaron Ahrndt, Jacob Connelly, Matt Wieber, Tyler Smith, Thomas Saterbak, Edgard Gonzalez, Logan Flegel, Dylan Ahrndt, Dakota Watkins, and RJ Hogrefe.
