Donald R. Flower, age 80, Benson died Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at the Glacial Ridge Health System in Glenwood, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, August 14, 2015, at the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ Church in Benson with Reverend William Warnock officiating.  Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ Church in Benson.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, MN.

Donald (Donnie) Robert Flower was born May 31, 1935, to Walter and Ethel (Swanson) Flower, at the Swift County Benson Hospital.  They lived 3 miles south of Benson their whole lives.  Donnie was baptized and confirmed at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Benson, Minnesota.  He attended country school Dist. 65 and graduated from Benson High School in 1953.
 
On March 14, 1962, Donald married Darlene J. (Moist) Flower.  Their marriage was blessed with three children.  They lived in Benson and spent their summers at Lake Scandi.  Farming was his passion and career.  He also welded at Pearson Manufacturing; drove truck; and ran a couple of businesses: snow blowing; Don’s CB Sales & Service; and Flower Equipment.   Donnie loved to laugh, watch Johnny Carson and old western movies.  Donnie loved to drive around looking at crops and implement dealerships, and having coffee with his “coffee buddies” at Sandy’s, Burger King and the Whistle Stop Café.  He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed attending his kids’ and grandchildren’s numerous activities and sporting events.  Donnie’s pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.  When asked how he was doing, he always answered “Fabulous!”.  Donald was called from his life on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, Minnesota.  He attained the age of 80 years, 2 months and 11 days.
 
Donald is survived by his wife, Darlene, and children: Becky (Jim) Poppen of Cambridge, Kathy (Ian) McDonald of Hutchinson, and Rick (Rhonda) Flower of Benson; grandchildren: Cody and Caitlin Flower, Jonah and Elizabeth Poppen, Mackenzie and Jacob McDonald; brother: Luverne (Mary) Flower of Benson; nephew: Jim (Terry) Flower of Benson; niece-in-law: Rhonda Flower of Benson; and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ethel Flower; and nephew, John Flower.
