Gloria Lee Smith, 68, passed away peacefully at her home in St Augustine, Florida, surrounded by loved ones, Thursday, May 21, 2015 following a brief battle against a deadly form of brain cancer.
A memorial service and reception will be held at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, Minnesota at 1 p.m.  Sat., June 13, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, Gloria had requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or the ASPCA, as she loved animals.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her husband of 49 years, Robert Smith, their two daughters, four grandchildren, her brother David (Diane) Janson,  her extended family and friends.
Gloria and Robert were both raised on farms that were 3-1/2 miles apart in Minnesota.  They dated throughout high school and were married shortly after graduation. Their life-long partnership was an inspiration and model of the perfect marriage  and companionship.   Friends and family often commented on how devoted they were to one another, and how their love had lasted through the years.
Gloria was a kind, thoughtful, loving and giving person.  She always thought of the needs of others before her own.   She was the perfect wife to Robert, and mother and grandmother and friend to two daughters Angela (John), and Julie (husband Colt), four grandchildren: Ayden, Alina, Parker and Ella and extended family member and closest friend Barb.  They all adored her and she will surely be missed, but never forgotten, by them.
Gloria loved the beaches of St. Augustine and the mountains of Colorado.  She spent hours walking the beach picking up sharks teeth, sea glass and shells.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Irvin Janson.
