Kevin A. Harstad, 29, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, formerly of Benson, died Monday, March 2, 2015, at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, the result of a severe asthma attack.  
Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m.  Sat., March 7, 2015, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.  Visitation was held Friday, March 6 from 5-7 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church and for one hour prior to the service at the church  Saturday.  
Kevin Alan Harstad was born in Benson, Minnesota  January 26, 1986, the son of Douglas A. and Diana K. (Schmidt) Harstad.  He was baptized at St. William’s Catholic Church in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota and confirmed at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.  He graduated from Benson Senior High School in 2005 and Ridgewater College in 2007.  
He worked as a mechanic for AmeriPride in Hibbing and most recently at Hoover Construction in Virginia, Minnesota.  Kevin was always willing to help others, regardless of the challenge.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, working on vehicles, and four wheeling.  
Kevin was called from this life  Monday, March 2, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, the result of a severe asthma attack.  His generous personality still lives on as he donated his organs to others in need.
He is survived by his parents, Douglas and Diana Harstad of Benson; four brothers: Jason of Benson, Ryan (Shanda) of Williston, ND, Alan of Benson, and Jon of Benson; three nieces: Taya, Kenna, and Braylee; grandmother, Dorothy Schmidt of Parkers Prairie; special friend, Ange Henschel and her family; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.  
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reinhart Schmidt and Richard and Kay Harstad.
