Alice M. Larson, 98, of Benson, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 at the Swift County-Benson Hospital.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3 at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Benson. Interment was in the Benson City Cemetery.
Alice Mary Larson was born October 18, 1916, in Oak Grove Township, Anoka County, Minnesota the daughter of George and Mary (Wetherby) Hicks.  She was baptized in the First Congregational Church in Anoka  July 10, 1932, by Rev. Edward Wribitzky.  She grew up in Anoka County and attended grade school in District 27, Cedar, Minnesota, then Washington and Lincoln Elementary schools in Anoka, and graduated from Anoka High School in 1933.  Following her schooling, Alice worked in Anoka for Colonial Upholstering, Gillespie’s Shoes and Thurston & Sons.  
June 3, 1943, Alice was united in marriage to Franklin Darwin Larson at the First Congregational Church in Anoka by Rev. Julian Keiser.  They were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage before Pat passed away  December 22, 1993.  
After moving to Benson, she worked for Meadow Lane Nursing Home as Business Manager for 24½ years.  She also worked part time as a bookkeeper at Benson Machine, and also Klassen’s Body Shop.  She was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational UCC Church where she taught Sunday school for 25 years, served as a Deaconate, on several fellowship boards, served many years as church secretary, was active in her church Circle, delivered sermon tapes to shut-ins, and delivered meals-on-wheels to community members.  
After moving to Scofield Place, she enjoyed playing cards and working on jigsaw puzzles with fellow residents. For the past several years she has been a resident of Golden Living Meadow Lane Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary; her husband, Pat; and her sister, Frances Hicks.
Alice will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Dr. James Larson and his domestic partner Jack Pavlock of Elk River, Mary Ellen (Rod) Thompson of Hancock, Thomas (Bernice) Larson of Eden Valley, and Patricia (Gary) Novotny of Wyndmere, ND; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews’ and former daughter-in-law, Patricia Larson.
