More rain sets back planting efforts

A few farmers with lighter, sandier soils were in the fields late last week but rains Sunday and Monday brought a halt to planting plans. 
The Benson area received 1.1 inches of rain early Sunday and another 45 hundredths of an inch as severe storms rolled through western Minnesota early Monday morning. After April’s 4.01 inches of precipitation, the new rainfall worsened already sodden conditions in too many fields.
