Senior Libby McGeary advanced to the Class A State Gymnastics tournament for the fourth straight season after finishing third in the all around competition at the Section 6A meet Saturday, Feb. 18, in Maple Lake.

“I’m excited to make my fourth consecutive trip to state in all around,” McGeary said. “Saturday went good, could’ve gone better, but I am happy to advance to state with my former club teammates.”

McGeary’s former club teammates included first-place finishing Ciera Anderson of New London-Spicer and runner-up Lyndi Koosman of Willmar.

“Basically the whole New London team I’ve been teammates with or been to camps with,” McGeary said, adding that Koosman and Mallory Bier of Willmar were also club teammates that qualified for state.

The Class A state team championship takes place on Friday, followed by the individual championships on Saturday, Feb. 25. Both events start at 6 p.m. at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul.

New London-Spicer won the Section 6A championship for the third straight season. Benson / Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg was third with 137.35 points, just one-tenth behind runner-up Willmar with 137.45 points.
