Magaard wins title as Saints 5th at Big Lake

The KMS wrestling team had a busy opening week of action, competing at a home quadrangular last Tuesday night and at the Big Lake Invitational, Friday. The Saints went 1-2 at the home quadrangular, losing to ACGC (50-18) and NLS (39-30) while also beating Quad County (48-24).
At the Big Lake Tourney, KMS was fifth of 10 teams with Will Magaard winning the Saints’ lone title, Coy Gunderson placing second, and Chase Magaard and Masyn Olson finishing third.
This week, the Saints have one match, Friday at Kimball Area.
KMS quadrangular
The Saints opened up the season with a 1-2 finish at a home quadrangular last Tuesday night. KMS beat Quad County in one dual, 48-24, but the Saints also fell to ACGC (50-18) and NLS (39-30) in the other two matches.
ACGC won the quadrangular with three victories, including a 45-20 win over NLS and a 64-6 rout of Quad County.
Will Magaard (145 pounds) and Brody Forsell (285) were the only KMS wrestlers to go 3-0, while Rick Jones was 2-0 at 182 pounds, and Chase Magaard (113), Coy Gunderson (120), and Jett Olson (126) were all 2-1.
Also picking up wins were Marc Collins (1-1 at 220 pounds), and Noah Johnson (1-2 at 106 pounds).
