LaVerne Howard Neuhaus, Benson

LaVerne Howard Neuhaus was born in Pontiac, Michigan to Laura C. (Larson) and Emil J. Neuhaus on November 23, 1929. He grew up south of Benson on the family farm and graduated from Benson High School. LaVerne served during the Vietnam War, completed 28 years of active duty, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Upon retirement, he moved back to Benson and was a member of the VFW Post 1403. He was called from this life on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. He attained the age of 83 years, 4 months and 11 days. His funeral is Friday, April 12, 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Benson.
LaVerne is survived by his son, Michael Neuhaus, of Stevensville, MT, grandchildren: Chad, Everett, Jeremy, John, and Nicole Neuhaus; several great-grandchildren; two brothers: Donald Neuhaus, of Benson, and Duane (Doris) Neuhaus, of Murdock; sister, Beverly (James) Mead, of Minnetonka; brother-in-law, Charles (Rita) Connelly, of Benson; sister-in-law, Paulette Neuhaus, of St. Cloud; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Laura Neuhaus; daughter, Andrea Neuhaus; brother, Ronald Neuhaus; sister, Barbara Connelly, and sister-in-law, Ardis Neuhaus.
