Lakers end season with loss to Stars

The  Norway Lake-Sunburg baseball team was eliminated for the season with a 9-5 loss to Starbuck in a game played Friday, July 31 at Minnewaska Area High School.  The Lakers, who ended the season with a 1-9 overall record, had opened up the County Line playoffs with a 7-6 extra-inning loss at Atwater, a game in which the Lakers led 6-3 after six innings and 6-5 with two outs in the ninth.

Starbuck and NL-Sunburg were tied 0-0 through four innings of the elimination game before the Stars plated nine runs over the fifth and sixth innings combined to take control of the game.

The Lakers did mount a big comeback, drawing to within 9-5 with one out in the ninth before Starbuck retired the final two batters to end the game...
