KMS ends season with loss at West Central Area in Section 6A Tourney
The KMS boys basketball team was eliminated during the second round of the Section 6A Boys Basketball Tournament with an 89-53 loss to top-seeded West Central Area in the sub-section quarterfinals at Barrett, Thursday night.
The Saints had opened up the tourney with an 80-50 win at home against Ortonville in a preliminary-round game last Monday night. KMS was seeded eighth in its half of Section 6A, while Ortonville was seeded ninth.
West Central Area earned the top seed in KMS’ half of Section 6A, while Parkers Prairie, Hancock, and Ashby are the other top-four seeds. In the other half of the section, the top four seeds are Henning, NCE/U-H, Mahnomen/Waubun, and New York Mills.
WCA took a 38-17 halftime lead and got its lead up to 26 points (45-19) early in the second half before coasting to the victory.
KMS, which ended its season with a 9-17 overall record, will lose seniors Chris Moist, Kyler Johnson, and Titan Norton.
