KMS boys finish season with loss to Paynesville Bulldogs in first round

The 2024-25 boys basketball season came to an end last week for the KMS Saints. The team finished up their regular season with a 54-51 win over the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Falcons at home in Kerkhoven Feb. 24 to finish the regular season with an even 13-13 record. The Saints earned the sixth seed in the Section 3AA playoffs and lost 81-73 on the road against the three seed Paynesville Feb. 28 to end their season.

It was a fight between the Saints and Falcons in the regular season finale. Neither team could gain an edge through all 36 minutes, but KMS made just enough plays down the stretch to come away with a narrow three-point win.
The Falcons did come out and score the first six points of the game, but KMS quickly recovered and came back to take a 19-18 lead with just under five minutes left in the first half. The two teams traded buckets over the final minutes, but KMS did enter the halftime break with a narrow advantage of 29-26.
