It was a bit of an up and down season for the KMS boys basketball team in a competitive Camden Conference. After a bit of a tough start, the Saints battled throughout the season and did get back to the .500 mark before losing their final game, finishing 14-13 overall.
The Saints played their first three games of the season and were still looking for their first win of the season and finally found it against Litchfield and Ortonville in their next two games. KMS continued to battle to get back to an even .500 mark, but each time they lined up a couple wins, they would drop their next two or three games.
KMS finished the regular season with really strong wins in four five of their final six games of the season to finish the regular season 13-13. “After Christmas, you could really see the team start to gel together,” head coach Matt Fragodt said.
KMS was 7-9 and finished tied for third in the Camden Conference - North, behind Central Minnesota Christian School and eventual state champion Dawson-Boyd.
KMS earned the sixth seed in the Section 3AA - North playoffs and went on the road to play third seed Paynesville Area. The Saints made a valiant effort to complete the upset, but fell 81-73 to end their season.
