June to August period third driest, so far

August is ending with the Benson area again seeing below average rainfall. The month brought 2.58 inches of rain to Benson, 88 hundredths of an inch below the average of 3.46 inches.
There is no rain in the forecast that would change the month’s rainfall totals.
The June-to-July period was the fourth driest on local record with 3.95 inches of rain – just 49 percent of the average of 8.03 inches for the two-month period. June and July of 2006 saw the driest two-month period with just 2.09 inches of rain, 26 percent of the average for period.
