Joyce June Rhode, 95, of Benson, Minnesota, passed away peacefully March 2, 2025.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, 508 13th Ave N. Benson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Swift County Food Shelf in Benson.
Joyce was born June 19, 1929, in Flint, Michigan, to Adolph and Alma Rekstad. Joyce’s life was filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
She built a fulfilling career working as an insurance underwriter at Risk Planners. She was a dedicated employee, but above all, Joyce cherished her family. Joyce was the oldest of eight children.
Joyce found joy in life’s simple pleasures: reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, golfing, and watching football. She never missed a birthday and was always the first to send a thoughtful card. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity touched all who knew her.
Joyce is survived by: Roger Rekstad (Sharon), Lois Torgerson, and Marilyn Secretario (Danny). Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Michael Rhode, Carol (Steve) Roitenberg, and Bev (Craig) Miller; seven grandchildren; 14 beautiful great-grandchildren; and her beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Alma, her beloved husband, Anthony (Tony) Rhode, and siblings: Marlene Rekstad, Kendall Rekstad, Noreta Rekstad, and Verona Suter.
A deep appreciation goes to the Scandi Haven of Cura in Benson, for the wonderful staff who cared for Joyce over the years and made it her home. She loved this place and her paper route each day. She will be deeply missed, but her love lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
