Jean Marie Hilleren, 78, of Benson, passed away Thursday morning, September 19, 2024, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Visitation will continue from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, at the church, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials sent to CentraCare Hospice in Benson.
Jean Marie (Walsh) Hilleren died peacefully in the early morning hours of September 19, 2024, in Benson.
Jean was born July 30, 1946, in Benson, the daughter of James and Anne (Rutledge) Walsh. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock, Minnesota. After graduating from Murdock High School, Jean earned an associate degree before continuing her studies at St. Cloud State University.
March 22, 1969, Jean was united in marriage to James “Jim” Allan Hilleren at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock. They were blessed with three children and 55 years of marriage. Jim and Jean raised their children in Danvers before moving to Benson in 2004.
Jean was an active member of the Danvers community and worked part-time at the post office for many years. She enjoyed being in nature and working outdoors at their farm south of Benson. Jean liked to be active and sewed many quilts for her loved ones. She took great joy in spending time with her family, particularly her five grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her husband Jim; son Anthony (Nancy) Hilleren of Benson, daughter Jana (Greg Bassett) Hilleren of Edina, MN, and daughter Amy Hilleren of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren: Thomas Garcia, James and Julia Listerud, and Norah and Sophie Hilleren; and siblings Richard Walsh of Kerkhoven, MN, Patrick (Kathy) Walsh of Murdock, MN, and Colleen Campbell of Mankato, MN. Jean was preceded in death by her parents James and Anne Walsh and brother Francis Walsh.
