Verizon phone charges questioned at county meeting
At each of the Swift County Board of Commissioner meetings, commissioners give a report on the various boards and county and regional boards they serve on.
Within those reports can be interesting bits of information that reflect on county operations or the impact of what is happening in the region that affects Swift County.
Commissioners go through those bills prior to their meetings and from time to time question them to a better idea of where taxpayer money is going.
While commissioners were approving bill payments, Commissioner Larry Mahoney, District 4-Fairfield Township, raised a question about the Verizon phone charges.
There was one bill for $2,140 and another for $1,272 for the month, he pointed out. There are about 82 cell phones in use in the county and 140 employees. That seems like a lot of phones, he said.
