Ronald G. Laycock, 90, of Benson, Minnesota, died Monday, March 17, 2025, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar, Minnesota. Visitation was from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial was in the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Ronald George Laycock was born April 15, 1934, in Madrid, Iowa, the son of George Ross and Edna Marguerite (Simonson) Laycock. He grew up and attended school in Madrid, Iowa, graduating from Madrid High School. After graduation, Ron attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and received a bachelor's degree.
July 11, 1964, Ronald married Ione Patricia Torrin in Roseau, Minnesota. Together they raised three children: Becky, Mike, and LeAnn. They lived in Glenwood, Minnesota, and Benson. Ron worked as the Director of Human Services for Swift County for many years.
Ron was always willing to share his leadership to advance his church and community...serving on many committees, councils, and boards at church. He committed many years to serving on the Project Turnabout Board, Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation, Swift County Hospital Board, Scofield Place, and others.
Ron enjoyed many trips with his family to many places, especially Holden Village in Washington state.  He and Ione enjoyed many trips in retirement including traveling to the Netherlands, Italy, Australia, and taking bus trips to various places in the United States. He also enjoyed woodworking, collecting coins, hunting, and fishing. Ron’s children, grandsons, and great-grandchildren brought him much joy and many smiles.
Ron was called from this life  Monday, March 17, 2025, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. He was 90 years old.
Ron is survived by his wife Ione Laycock of Benson; children: Becky (Don) Holland of New London, MN, Mike (Diane) Laycock of Brandon, SD, and LeAnn (Ron) Roth of Mapleton, ND; nine grandchildren: Matthew (Ellen) Holland, Benjamin Holland, Philip (Stephanie) Holland, Andrew (Brooke) Laycock, Luke (Kayla) Laycock, Noah (Amber Thompson) Laycock, Brady (Mackenzie) Dokkebakken, Nathan (Ashley Tesch) Dokkebakken, and Samuel Ross; seven great-grandchildren: Owen Holland, Brynn Holland, Chase Laycock, Emma Laycock, Cameron Dokkebakken, Natalie Dokkebakken, and Reed Gonzalez; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Edna Laycock, and siblings: Roger Laycock, Elvera Blake, and Donna Ostberg.
