Larry E. Wetzel, 57, of Willmar, Minnesota died Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A celebration of life for Larry will be held Saturday, August 24 from 3-6:00 p.m. at McKinney’s on Southside in Benson, Minnesota.
Larry Emil Wetzel was born March 20, 1967, the son of Kenneth and Elaine (Schafer) Wetzel in Olivia. He attended and graduated from Danube High School.
April 25, 1992, Larry married Kristi Pierce of Benson.  Together they had two sons: Nick and Mitchel.
Larry spent most of his working career as a truck driver, driving locally and OTR. He would haul just about everything, but was also skilled and employed with welding, farming, mechanics, and livestock over the years.
Larry enjoyed spending time with his boys, being outside, and tinkering on anything with a motor and wheels.  Getting the family together and working on trucks, tractors, or other projects seemed to be his favorite.  He would very rarely be seen wearing anything but a pearl snap plaid shirt, jeans and cowboy boots.
Always a kid at heart, he would participate in activities with his family and kids whether it be tubing, snowmobiling, racing, trail riding, or anything outdoors.
Larry is survived by his two sons: Nick Wetzel (fiancée Kari Holt) of Benson, and Mitchel Wetzel of Willmar; his father, Kenneth Wetzel of Spicer; sister, Lisa (Mark) Nemitz of Redwood Falls; brother, Jason (Tena) Wetzel of Hinckley; brother, Tony Wetzel (fiancée Abby Martins) of Willmar; his nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Elaine.
